Cape Fur Seals - Diving - South Africa - Sharktraveler
Scuba diving or snorkelling with the Cape Fur Seals is probably one of the most exciting underwater activities you can participate in. There are a couple of places around the Cape Peninsula to dive with these underwater acrobats. It does not matter if it is winter of summer these guys stick around all year. There are two main colonies where we dive with seals, and it can be done on either side of the peninsula, guaranteeing you a dive of a lifetime. This area has been a marine reserve for a number of years and has an abundance of life over and above the seals. They are not camera shy and love to play with divers. Not surprisingly, divers from all over the world flock to Cape Town to see these guys in action.
Cape Fur Seals live in colonies which can range from a few hundred individuals, to huge colonies where they can number in the tens of thousands.
Both snorkellers and divers can enjoy an outing with the Cape Fur Seals, as they often hang around at the surface, warming their flippers in the sun or gathering in groups waiting to head out to sea to hunt for fish. It does not matter if you are not a qualified diver, you can still be in the water observing and interacting with one of the oceans most playful and interesting characters.
